A wonderfully lazy Sunday. Spent the morning laying in bed reading books to Katie. And I took my turn later that night before bed. I'm absolutely amazed at how much she engaged with the stories! We look forward to reading her many more stories in the years to come!

Ryan also took some time to play around on the piano with her this evening. She loved the different sounds it made!

Oct 26th

Big day again today! Katie's baby shower!  Sooooo lovely! Hosted by Sarah Flemming and Kelly Tucker and held at Heather Winter's house. Lots of family and friends attended and the theme was "help keep Katie's bum dry and improve her literacy skills". Needless to say, her bookshelf is well stocked now, and we also have a generous amount of money to go and buy her next set of cloth diapers and a baby monitor that we have not yet picked up. Katie looked very sheik in the fancy outfit that Sue Harvey and Catherine Morgan gave to her when they first came to visit her.

But we eventually woke her up so she could see everyone...

What a fun afternoon and I feel so blessed to have such fantastic friends and family :)

After the shower we headed to Pam and Dave's place in Orillia for their annual Hallowe'en bash. Since we already had a giraffe costume, Ry and I decided to make it a Safari and dress up a bit too.


At the party, Katie got to hang with her cousin, Nate, again who was dressed up like Yoda. Sooooo cute!

Oct 24th

First snowfall of the season. It didn't accumulate but it was snow! Already thinking about how different this day will be next year when Katie is old enough to be excited about snow! At least, I think she'll be old enough to show excitement???

Fast asleep on the couch during a 3hr nap after an early morning 6am feeding. We tried putting her to bed an hour earlier last night (11pm) in the hopes that she would sleep to her usual 7am, but her internal clock woke her up after 7 hrs. Will have to keep trying to stretch that again.

All bundled up in a completely mismatched outfit that mommy threw together to stay warm for a walk.

Bundled up again, this time after her bedtime bath. Such a happy time of night!

Its cold outside today! Think I heard high of 6 degrees. Time to get cuddled up in her cute jogging suit with hooded sweatshirt!

Last day of 4th trimester class at Serenity Birth studio.  What a beautiful group of babies (and ladies too!).

Met another "milestone" today! Finally worked up the courage to read Robert Munsch's "Love You Forever" to Katie. Ry and I have been avoiding this for some time now for fear of the blubbery mess it would turn us into, but decided to tackle it on this quiet Saturday afternoon. Oh boy! Was it ever messy, but quite comical too! If only we had thought to capture this book reading on video. Lol! Wonder if I'll ever be able to read this book sans tears ever again in my life???

Oct 19

Last night was a big night... Date night! Our first one since Katie was born! Just one day shy of 11 weeks, Ryan and I had a night out!












It started with dinner at grandma and grandpa's and then we left Katie in their trusty hands, and took off to the movies. Saw 'Gravity' in 3D which was awesome! Definitely not a disappointment. It was only 1.5 hours and so intense that I managed to stay awake the whole time!

Grandma and grandpa loved playing with her beforehand and when we messaged to check in, she was fast asleep and had been for most of it. Needless to say, they thought it was a pretty easy babysitting gig and are willing to do it again!

Katie slept from 1230 til 6am, nursed in bed, and let us sleep another couple of hours. Woke up at 930am to this wonderful scene. I look grouchy but am really just groggy from getting sooo much sleep!!

Oct 18th

Hanging out after her morning feed. In her typical "boxer" stance, as per usual. She's really started to discover her hands and she keeps them all clenched up tight and swings them around like she's boxing. She's got a great 'upper cut' and 'blocking stance' too!

Oct 17

Fast asleep on mommy's lap after a full day of baby bootcamp, grocery shopping, and a free baby massage class at Georgian College.

Oct 16th

Back to see Dr. Jack Newman (breast feeding guru) for a follow-up appt. We went last week and Katie got both a tongue and lip clip in an effort to make her latch a bit better (something that the other lactation consultants missed). I'm just not sure who the experience was more traumatic for: mom or baby. Yes... I cried. It was absolutely horrible!

After a week of supplementing her with a tube system lactation aid, she's up 10 oz (now 9lbs, 10 oz). I still don't know what we will do moving forward since the tubing system is far from ideal, but its good to know that it was actually working. I only supplemented 8 oz of formula each day so she must have been getting the remaining necessary ounces from the breast!

Today we also learned how to cup feed. Apparently Katie was a pro. She lapped up the milk like a little kitten :)

Oct 15th

Fast asleep at baby bootcamp. This is the first one she has slept through and ultimately let mommy do the entire workout! Yay for sore abs tomorrow!

Ready to be baptized at Huron Feathers in Sauble Beach on Thanksgiving weekend. All decked out in Great-Grandpa Thompson's 98 year old christening gown and her daddy's 33 year old hand-knit hat, booties, and blanket (part of the outfit that Grandma Gledhill took him home from the hospital in when he was born).

Oct 11th

She woke up at 4am crying so we ended up spending the rest of the night sleeping on the couch together and waking up to the sun peeking through the blinds and shining in on us. Pure heaven.

I love watching her perky eyes stick out from the blanket and follow me around the entire store. Bonus when I get the occasional smile flashed my way!

Evidence of the shots from yesterday. I can't bring myself to take these bandaids off yet since I know how much that will hurt too. Think we'll save that for bathtime later tonight.
